The Shape of Time

This season draws inspiration from the designer’s exploration and imagination of Oriental civilization.

During the Song Dynasty, the Southern School artist and poet Su Shi identified that the aesthetic foundation of literati painting derived directly from the spirit of Chuang Tzu.

In a parable from the “Miscellaneous Chapters” of Chuang Tzu, the philosopher praised the act of “forgetting the words and apprehending the ideas.” This concept suggests that artists should transcend mere experience and comprehension of real life, distilling its essence into a refined and exquisite artistic language to reimagine art.

This ancient spirit of tracing back to origins has inspired the designer to subtly incorporate jacquard weaves and organza fabric. These materials, crafted through traditional techniques, echo the physical texture of scroll paintings and form the core of this season’s designs. Building on the previous collection’s modest and clean aesthetic, the multi-layered draping and folding designs bring to life the styling of this show.

By shedding rigid themes, the collection embraces a diversity of elements, including flower-inspired ensembles, firework-pattern tie-dyed fantasy dresses, and velvet garments that gracefully skim the feet.

The asymmetric layouts maintain a balance between form and function, visually reversing the notions of heaviness and lightness. This approach enhances both the sensory and diachronic experience, bridging past and present.

Through a lens of historicism, the designer integrates classical craftsmanship with contemporary culture, articulating the aesthetic philosophy that “form is finite, but meaning is infinite.”

By shaping imagination, the collection leisurely embodies a sense of fashion rooted in Eastern traditional attire, leading to genderless, timeless designs that return tailoring to its natural essence.
